Sand Filter
Sand filter is a micron filter that traps sediments and other matter like mud, silt, rust and dirt which affect the taste and appearance of your water. This filter is designed to be three layer sand media (sand, gravel and pebbles). A sand filter has a dirt holding capacity of 3 to 6 kg TSS / m2 of sand surface. When the filters are loaded with particles, the flow direction is reversed and the flow is increased to clean the filter again. This step is called a backwash.
Sand Filters become clogged after a period of time with floc and then it needs to be backwashed.
